It’s Time to Correct the Myths! (part 1)

“Spend hundreds and build a list.”  We’ve heard them all, at least it seems that way.  Now we learn that this isn’t necessarily the case.  Which is right?  Well, the truth is, isn’t the only way to create a successful business. 

Then we hear that the money is in the list.  They mean your email list, but that isn’t really the whole truth.  There may be money in the list, but where do you get that list and is it the only place that the money is?

To start to answer these questions, we have to start with the first one.  Where do you get a list if you never even heard of needing one until now?  You can buy one or barter for one, or even pray that someone will be kind enough to share their old list with you.

Watch out!!!  A used list, which all of these types of lists are, means that the person letting you have access to the names and emails is giving you a list where the reader has  already seen these same offers thousands of times and either are sick of them and blocked messages or closed the accounts.  If they haven’t done that, they are also not monitoring that email any longer because of the number of messages they receive.

The person willing to share a list with you has already depleted any chance for a sale to this list unless you have something very, very unique.  Even then, there is no guarantee that they will open the message and few will read them.  Of those few that are left in the list, there is little chance that they would consider your offer, unless you are giving them a super value that they can’t find somewhere else.

Now, what do you do to find or create your list if these methods aren’t readily available and not much good even when you do get them?  Think of it this way.  You live in a town of 10,000.  These people shop in town on a regular basis.  The people of the world using computers also use their computers on a regular basis.  Okay so if the computer users of the world are equal to the people in your town, and your shop online is equal to the store downtown: Then where and how do you get people to walk through the door of your store in town or through the entrance (link) to your website.  You can email forever to your “list” and still it is only a very small percentage of use, or you can drive traffic to your door of your store or website and then so what?  Do you leave them standing outside to walk past or do you bring them in?  Okay, so now you know you have to bring them inside, and if you do try, how?

Watch for future newsletters that will explain why what we hear daily about internet marketing is not the entire truth.  Learn why it is important to start using our own common sense and sort for the partial truth that is the all-important root to growing “ANY” business.

Another marketer that I have listened to many times, has done some testing on a site claiming to help you gain rapid back-linking for your websites. I know of hundreds of these types of sites and some are legitimate, while others are a complete waste of your time, and as you will learn from the friend’s blog article, can also be a waste of your money.

Since then I have been told that the site wasn’t ready so limited access until October 12 when product was to launch.  Okay, I can make sense out of that.  I was willing to wait before I tried to look at and test the product fully.  Then I was bombarded with offers to join the auto-ship immediately.  Okay, I signed up for the auto-ship.  If it was going to be as good as I thought then it was fine because I would do it later anyway.  Still not upset with them and giving the benefit of the doubt.  I made referrals and posted my recommendations to others.

Then, “WHAM!!!”

I get an email stating that I must verify my pre-enrollment, (okay, understandable still).  But, then the email continues on to say that I must join the auto-ship (okay, already had done that), and they would charge the first auto-ship bill on October 12 (??? = I’m not going for changing in the middle of the stream when I haven’t even had a chance to look at the inside of the product/service, yet).

Totally irate and furious.  How could any company tell you that you will get to “trial run” a product for a month free if you joined during pre-enrollment, then when you must enroll for the launch change the rules?  People watch out for this kind of thing.

I have cancelled my agreement with them, sent them a nasty letter of it being a farce, and informed them that I will pass this message along the same as I passed the recommendations along.  If you joined, because of my recommendation, and unless you are still completely satisfied with this type of treatment and agreement, please send an email to :

and request that your agreement be canceled immediately.  If later they wish to make an honorable offer in a form that is agreeable, I will re-enroll and hope that you will do the same.  For now, I hope that you will not join a company that has no scruples about how it treats their membership.

Again, I apologize to my readers for giving bad information, but I promised to let you know when I learned things.  I also know that I must take responsibility to insure your safety through what I recommend and that if that means I must apologize and admit that I made a mistake — then so be it!!!

I would rather have readers follow me because they can trust that I will do my best for them, than to manufacture a list of thousands who have no idea who or what I really stand for.

If what I said makes sense, I hope you will pass it along.  Even if you didn’t actually sign someone up to this as a referral, it is time we take back the right to demand equal and fair service without “shenanigans” that are intended to feed someone’s pocket and give no benefit to the buyer.

I am removing all information about this product/service from my recommendation page immediately.

Whether you are dreaming of a business online or offline, we are here to help.   The internet is growing by leaps and bounds daily, why shouldn’t you use it to your advantage and grow along with it?  The opportunities are vast and range from raising a kitten to traveling in space.  If your mind can think it then the internet can market it.

I can almost bet that there are a few thousand marketers that are groaning right now.  Most have learned that it is better to narrow their prospective customers down to a tight niche and only worry about building a list of a few thousand customers.  I really can’t see why anyone should believe that but, they do.   If you owned a large shoe store on main street, USA and wanted to sell more shoes, would you narrow your self to selling only shoes for the left foot hoping to sell more right shoes to the people with only a right leg?  It makes about as much sense as stirring dirt into a cup of water and calling it cocoa.

If you are wanting to build a business and learn to control it so that it won’t control you, then you do not narrow yourself to the “niche” market of learning only how to drive traffic, or when and how to use SEO.  Oh, and by the way all you real-world businesses, those methods can both advertise your brick and mortar world businesses the same as the online businesses.  Want another surprise?  Lots of times they can do it for free.
