It’s Time to Cor­rect the Myths! (part 1)

 

“Spend hun­dreds and build a list.”  We’ve heard them all, at least it seems that way.  Now we learn that this isn’t nec­es­sar­ily the case.  Which is right?  Well, the truth is, isn’t the only way to cre­ate a suc­cess­ful business. 

 

Then we hear that the money is in the list.  They mean your email list, but that isn’t really the whole truth.  There may be money in the list, but where do you get that list and is it the only place that the money is?

 

To start to answer these ques­tions, we have to start with the first one.  Where do you get a list if you never even heard of need­ing one until now?  You can buy one or barter for one, or even pray that some­one will be kind enough to share their old list with you.

 

Watch out!!!  A used list, which all of these types of lists are, means that the per­son let­ting you have access to the names and emails is giv­ing you a list where the reader has  already seen these same offers thou­sands of times and either are sick of them and blocked mes­sages or closed the accounts.  If they haven’t done that, they are also not mon­i­tor­ing that email any longer because of the num­ber of mes­sages they receive.

 

The per­son will­ing to share a list with you has already depleted any chance for a sale to this list unless you have some­thing very, very unique.  Even then, there is no guar­an­tee that they will open the mes­sage and few will read them.  Of those few that are left in the list, there is lit­tle chance that they would con­sider your offer, unless you are giv­ing them a super value that they can’t find some­where else.

 

Now, what do you do to find or cre­ate your list if these meth­ods aren’t read­ily avail­able and not much good even when you do get them?  Think of it this way.  You live in a town of 10,000.  These peo­ple shop in town on a reg­u­lar basis.  The peo­ple of the world using com­put­ers also use their com­put­ers on a reg­u­lar basis.  Okay so if the com­puter users of the world are equal to the peo­ple in your town, and your shop online is equal to the store down­town: Then where and how do you get peo­ple to walk through the door of your store in town or through the entrance (link) to your web­site.  You can email for­ever to your “list” and still it is only a very small per­cent­age of use, or you can drive traf­fic to your door of your store or web­site and then so what?  Do you leave them stand­ing out­side to walk past or do you bring them in?  Okay, so now you know you have to bring them inside, and if you do try, how?

 

Watch for future newslet­ters that will explain why what we hear daily about inter­net mar­ket­ing is not the entire truth.  Learn why it is impor­tant to start using our own com­mon sense and sort for the par­tial truth that is the all-important root to grow­ing “ANY” business.
